Network-based or IP surveillance uses a wired or wireless IP network as the backbone for transporting digital video and other data. A network video system offers a host of benefits including lower operating costs, simpler management and the ability to monitor and record video from anywhere on the network whether it is on a local area network (LAN) or a wide area network (WAN) such as the Internet. Analog systems can also be upgraded to digital, network-based systems enabling users to obtain the benefits of network video without having to discard existing analog equipment such as analog CCTV cameras and coaxial cabling.

The founder of Tactical Video Surveillance, Inc. maintains a law-enforcement background and designs each network-based, video surveillance system from a law-enforcement prospective.
